Happy Easter!

Best Easter wishes to everyone! :)

Beautiful Easter Egg

on deviantArt: larger photo + more notes

This is a nice example of how nature + some work can yield beautiful Easter eggs and nice photos.

No paints or brushes are used in this traditional process of egg "painting". It's all down to wrapping an egg in natural things - leaves, flowers, onion peels - and then boiling them in water with more onion peels. Even the bright orange color was achieved this way. And you never fully know what you're gonna get - every egg is unique. :p

Doesn't it fall apart in the water? I'd really like to try this!

Dollie: a thread is used in order for it not to all apart in the water. After every layer is put against the egg you secure it by wrapping a thread around the egg.

You can see thread-marks on some areas of the egg above.

I am so intrigued with this idea! I'm wondering if you have tried this with "doldrums of winter" nature items? I'm not sure I can wait for spring for fresh decor! Also, would fresh beet peels work, and how many onion peels do you put in the water?

Sorry to ask so many questions. I can't wait to give this a try.

Thanks again.
